AUST, Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Program Partner On Human Capacity Building

The African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja and the Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Program (PAP) is to partner in human capacity building and other areas of mutual benefits to the two organizations.

This was made known in Abuja when a team led by Dr. Charles Ariye paid a courtesy visit on the President of AUST, Professor Azikiwe Peter Onwualu, FAS in his office in Abuja recently.

Dr. Ariye stated that their team’s mission to AUST was to avail themselves with the necessary information that would see their organization send some students to AUST for the various undergraduate programs.

According to him” We are here to inspect the various infrastructures in AUST so as to give us a fair judgment in our decision to have our students pursue various undergraduate programs here in AUST through the Presidential Amnesty Program.

In his response, the AUST President, Professor Azikiwe Peter Onwualu thanked the PAP team for their visit and for choosing AUST as one of their choice universities for the training of their students under this program.

He reiterated the readiness  of AUST to partner with PAP and other interested organizations in line with the mission and vision statement of the university and elaborated on the university’s  state-of-the-art facilities, including the Library, IT Unit, Austinspire Hub, AfDB Hall, and specialized laboratories designed to foster innovative learning.

Prof. Onwualu also emphasized the University’s ongoing partnerships with key sponsors and expressed a strong desire to collaborate with the Presidential Amnesty Program.

In his statement, "Our goal is not just to educate our students, but to empower them to become entrepreneurs and innovators, so they won’t have to search for jobs after graduation.

We would be honored to collaborate with PAP” he enthused.

The visiting team were later conducted round the facilities in the university before holding talks with the president before their departure.

Dr. Charles Ariye from the Presidential Amnesty Program was accompanied on the visit by  Dr. Mrs. Ibimimaibim Pepple while Dr. Abdulhakeem Bello, AUST Director of Programs; Mrs Buchi Ekpolomo, Chief Librarian; Mr. Osoba Inegbenose, Academic Registrar; Mrs Nsima Joseph, Students Affairs Coordinator, Prince Obioha Atulomah, Head, Media Services/PR; Mrs Murna Opatola, Associate Director, Operations and Mr. Victor Ejiro Tebite who represented the AUST bursar joined the AUST President to welcome the visiting team from the PAP.
