AUST MARKS ONWUALU'S 365 DAYS IN OFFICE WITH POMP AND PAGEANTRY

The Management, Staff, Students and the entire community of the African University of Science and Technology went agog as the citadel of academic of excellence marked the one year in office of  their Acting President, distinguished Professor of Agricultural Engineering, Professor Azikiwe Peter Onwualu, FAS.
In a message to mark this unique occasion, the AUST community described Onwualu's one year in office as remarkable. According to a release made available to the media unit, they enthused that the university had witnessed  great improvement in the areas of outreach, visibility campaigns, staff welfare, commencement of the undergraduate programs,  innovation and entrepreneurship, high technology research works, open door administration to mention but few.
They wished the Acting President the best of luck as he leads the University to its enviable position.
It would be noted that Professor Azikiwe Peter Onwualu,  was appointed the President on acting capacity shortly after the sudden and shocking death of the former Acting President, late Professor Charles Ejike Chidume,  who died on October 7, 2021 after a brief illness.
Born on April 27,1959 into the family of John Onwualu.

He attended St George's Primary School before he proceeded to Merchants of Light School in Anambra State, where he obtained his West African School Certificate in 1977.

HighlyHe then attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1982. He later received a Master's and Doctorate degrees in Agric. Engineering from University of Nigeria Nsukka and Dalhousie University respectively and became a Professor in 1999.
He has thought in the University of Nigeria Nsukka, worked as director, Engineering Infrastructure, National Agency for Science& Engineering Infrastructure ( NASENI) from 2003-2005. Due to the innovations he brought to bear in NASENI, the then President of Nigeria, General Olusegun Obasanjo appointed him, Director General of Raw Materials Research and Development Council ( RMRDC) from (2005-2013). A few months ago, Onwualu was elected President of the Nigeria Academy of Engineering ( NAEngr).
He has held many positions before his appointment as the Acting President of AUST last year.
He is married to Mrs Blessing Onwualu and the marriage is blessed with four children.
