AUST Delegates Pay Courtesy Visit to EUN Vice-Chancellor
A delegation from the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the European University of Nigeria (EUN), Professor Emmanuel Chinedum Ibezim, to explore avenues for institutional collaboration.
The visit, led by Mrs Nsima Joseph, Coordinator of Student Affairs at AUST, took place on Monday, 20 April 2026, and focused on strengthening partnerships through student-centred programmes, joint events, research, and innovation.
During the meeting, participants introduced their respective roles and highlighted ongoing engagement platforms such as Africa Hub, Science Group Hub, and Technology Hub, which promote student visibility and innovation across disciplines.
Speaking at the meeting, Mrs Joseph emphasised the importance of collaborative initiatives, particularly exhibitions and joint programmes, in expanding student opportunities. She noted that AUST’s upcoming two-day trade fair, scheduled for Thursday 23 and Friday 24 April, would provide a valuable platform for staff and students of EUN to engage with their counterparts at AUST.
Mrs. Princess Favour Nwogwu, Guardian and Counselling Coordinator at AUST, outlined additional areas for cooperation, including sports exchanges, scholarship opportunities, and innovation-driven initiatives. She highlighted AUSTInspire as a key vehicle for fostering creativity and practical skills among students, in line with the university’s vision of producing industry-ready graduates.
Also contributing, Dr Jude Nwabueze, Dean of Student Affairs at EUN, underscored the importance of partnerships in bridging the gap between academic research and real-world application. He observed that a significant volume of research conducted in laboratories remains underutilised, stressing the need for commercialisation. Dr Nwabueze cited a drone surveillance technology developed by an EUN staff member as an example of innovation that could benefit from student involvement and further development.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibezim, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a welcome development and a promising step towards meaningful collaboration. He reaffirmed EUN’s commitment to partnering with institutions such as AUST in pursuit of global competitiveness.
The meeting was attended by Professor Emmanuel Chinedum Ibezim, Vice-Chancellor of EUN; Dr Jude Nwabueze, Dean of Student Affairs, EUN; Professor Barnabas Toge; Mrs Nsima Joseph, Coordinator of Student Affairs, AUST; Princess Favour Nwogwu, Guardian and Counselling Coordinator, AUST; Mr Dike Chibuzo, Administrative Assistant, Media/PR, AUST; and Mr Favour Ibezim, Head of Media, EUN.
