ArcelorMittal Liberia Opens Applications for 11th Advanced Scholarship Programme
The Government of Liberia, in collaboration with the management of ArcelorMittal Liberia, has officially announced the commencement of applications for the 11th batch of its Advanced Academic Scholarship Programme aimed at supporting Liberian students to pursue postgraduate and advanced studies abroad.
According to the announcement, the scholarship programme is designed to provide opportunities for qualified Liberian citizens seeking Master’s and other advanced academic degrees in STEM-related disciplines. The eligible fields include Engineering (excluding Environmental Engineering/Science), Geo-Sciences, Civil Surveying, and other STEM courses, including medical-related programmes.
Applicants are required to be Liberian citizens who must have resided in Liberia for at least two academic years at the time of application. Candidates must also possess an undergraduate degree in science-related disciplines and be 35 years old or younger at the time of application.
The scholarship further requires applicants to provide proof of citizenship and residential status, academic transcripts with a minimum CGPA of 3.0, recommendation letters, and an admission letter from a foreign accredited university. Interested candidates are also expected to submit a 500-word essay outlining how the scholarship will positively impact Liberia.
Among the selected institutions listed in the announcement is the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, Nigeria, Makerere University, the University of Nairobi, the Asian Institute of Technology, and Chandigarh University.
The inclusion of AUST in the list of selected institutions further highlights the university’s growing reputation as a leading centre for advanced science, technology, engineering, and innovation-driven education in Africa. Renowned for its postgraduate-focused academic model and research excellence, AUST continues to attract students from across the continent seeking quality STEM education and global competitiveness.
Applications opened on 18 May 2026 and will close on 18 June 2026, while admission letters must be submitted on or before 19 June 2026. The organisers noted that only electronic submissions sent as a single PDF file will be accepted.
