Abuja, Nigeria — 7 October 2026: The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the running of ten new full-time undergraduate programmes at the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, effective from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The approval follows a resource verification exercise conducted by a panel of NUC experts to assess the human and material resources available for the proposed programmes.
The NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, communicated the Commission’s approval for the programmes to be offered at AUST’s Main Campus.
The newly approved programmes are:
- B.Sc. Architecture
- B.Sc. Economics
- B.Sc. Banking and Finance
- B.Sc. Cyber Security
- B.Sc. Data Science
- B.Sc. Artificial Intelligence
- B.Sc. Information Systems
- B.MLS. Medical Laboratory Science
- B.Eng./B.Tech. Computer Engineering
- B.Sc. Industrial Chemistry
The approval marks a significant milestone in AUST’s academic expansion and reinforces the University’s commitment to delivering innovative, industry-relevant education.
The newly approved programmes, particularly in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber Security, Information Systems and Computer Engineering, align with the growing demand for advanced skills in technology and the digital economy.
The programmes will commence from the 2026/2027 academic session, subject to the University’s admissions processes and requirements.
