The African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, has continued discussions with Aptech, a global education and vocational training company headquartered in India, on a proposed partnership aimed at enhancing students’ employability and professional skills.

The Aptech delegation paid a follow-up courtesy visit to the University to advance discussions initiated during an earlier engagement in 2025. During the initial meeting, Aptech presented its training solutions and proposed a collaboration with AUST to provide students with industry-relevant short courses and internationally recognised professional certifications.

At the follow-up meeting, the delegation met with the President of AUST, Prof. Peter Azikiwe Onwualu, FAS, to review progress and discuss the next steps towards formalising the partnership.

Discussions centred on developing a framework that will enable AUST students to acquire practical, career-focused training in areas including information technology, digital media, animation, multimedia, software development, and other emerging professional disciplines.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements by equipping students with skills that enhance employability, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

It was agreed that further technical engagements would be held with the University’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Unit to define the implementation framework, identify priority areas of collaboration, and develop a roadmap for the proposed partnership.

The engagement marks another milestone in AUST’s commitment to strengthening strategic industry partnerships and expanding opportunities for students to acquire practical, industry-relevant competencies that prepare them for the demands of the global workforce while fostering innovation and sustainable development.
