The Rotary Club of Abuja Aso Golf has donated waste bins to the African University of Science
and Technology (AUST), Abuja, in support of environmental sustainability and as part of activities
marking the completion of the tenure of its outgoing President, Rtn. Lizzy Asomugha.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the University, the President, Prof. Azikiwe Peter Onwualu,
FAS, thanked the Rotary Club for the thoughtful gesture. He commended Rotary International for
its longstanding commitment to humanitarian service and praised the club for extending its
environmental initiative to AUST. Prof. Onwualu also reaffirmed the University’s willingness to
collaborate with the organisation on future community development and sustainability projects.

Speaking during the presentation, Rtn. Lizzy Asomugha explained that the donation, alongside a
campus clean-up exercise, formed part of the activities marking the conclusion of her tenure. She
noted that the initiative aligns with one of Rotary International’s areas of focus and emphasised
the importance of promoting a clean and healthy environment. She also announced that she
assume office as an Assistant Governor of Rotary International on 1 July 2026.

The presentation was attended by the University’s DAP/ Vice President, Dr Abdulhakeem Bello,
the Bursar, Mr Ben Okonkwo, members of the university community, and AUST staff who are
Rotarians, including Rtn. Bukky Biodun Ogundipe and Rotaractor Kenny, who commended
Rotary’s continued commitment to environmental conservation.
