NDPC Takes Its Data Protection Awareness Campaign To AUST

The Nigerian Data Protection Commission (NDPC) marked its National Privacy Week Celebration with a visit to the African University of Science and Technology(AUST), Abuja last Tuesday.

The theme for this year’s celebration is"Shaping Tomorrow’s Privacy Landscape"

The visit which was to create awareness on Data processing, storage and protection was conducted by Bystreams Consults Ltd on behalf of NPDC.

Mr. Anthony Oni who led the awareness team said that the day was mapped out to highlight the significance of safeguarding personal data and promoting privacy-conscious practices across various sectors.

“NDPC marks the Global Privacy Day to celebrate the significance of data privacy in order to encourage data privacy practices within schools, organizations, communities and nations. This initiative aims to raise awareness of data protection and privacy in our country, strengthening our rapidly evolving data privacy ecosystem with the focus this year on students in tertiary institutions for which AUST was chosen.

Highly elated AUST students participated in the data protection awareness lecture which was conducted byPrince Obioha Enyinnaya Sampson Atulomah, Head, Media Services/PR and Mrs Nsima Joseph, Coordinator, Students Affairs, AUST.

The Bystreams Consults Ltd later paid a courtesy visit to the AUST President, Professor Azikiwe Peter Onwualu, FAS who urged the visiting team to ensure the campaign gets to the nooks and crannies of te country maintaining that data processing, Artificial Intelligence, Soft ware Engineering and others are pivots on which technological advancements strive.

Mr. Anthony Oni, leader of the Bystreams Ltd thanked AUST President for approving the visit by his company and pledged to tap into possible partnerships between his firm and AUST.
