AUST Organizes a 3-day Training For  office administrators

The African University of Science and Technology (AUST) organized a 3- day intensive training program for its administrative staff.

The training which began on Monday, February 3, ended on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

The training was put together by the Human Resources and logistics department of the university and focused on ways to improve the administrative staff's efficiency while at work.

It also provided the trainees an ample opportunity to improve on their work procedures as well as ease off communication bottlenecks, create a cordial interpersonal relationship among staff members.

In his opening remarks,  Prof. Peter Azikwe Onwualu, FAS, President of AUST,  reiterated the importance of the training which was to improve productivity of AUST work force more especially the administrative staff.

He also emphasized the university's commitment to becoming an entrepreneurial institution, which requires proactive, effective, and productive work from its administrative staff. He highlighted the importance of leveraging AI and technology in administrative operations, noting that this would enable the university to achieve its strategic objectives and become a premier institution of higher learning in Africa.

The three-day training program featured a series of facilitators, including Dr. Bosco, Head of General Studies, who spoke on effective communication.

Mr. Emeka God-day, AUST's ICT staff, provided practical training on the use of technical work tools, applications, and software. Staff members also learned how to integrate AI into their roles and offices, which is expected to enhance their productivity and efficiency.

The training program was designed to equip administrative staff with the skills and knowledge needed to support the university's academic mission. By providing staff with training on effective communication, technical skills, and AI integration, AUST aims to create a more efficient and effective administrative system.

On the final day, an external trainer, Dr. Esele Akhabue, shared insights on problem-solving, time management, and decision-making. Dr. Akhabue's presentation provided staff with practical strategies for managing their workload, prioritizing tasks, and making informed decisions.

To conclude the training, the administrative staff received certificate of proficiency from the President, who encouraged the trained staff to apply their new skills and pursue further knowledge. The training program reflects AUST's ongoing commitment to investing in the development of its staff and enhancing its administrative capacity.
