UNNA Honours AUST President With Dignity of Man Award

The University of Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA), Abuja Chapter, on Friday, 29th November 2025, hosted its Annual Dinner and Award Ceremony, an elegant event marked by celebration, recognition, and nostalgia.

The gathering brought together distinguished alumni, friends of the university, and notable personalities for an evening of reflection and pride.

A major highlight of the night was the special recognition bestowed on the President of the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, Prof. Azikiwe Peter Onwualu, FAS.

Prof. Onwualu was honoured with the prestigious Dignity of Man Award of Excellence, an honour reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to national development.

The AUST President was celebrated for his outstanding work in Science, Technology, and Innovation, as well as his remarkable leadership in advancing university education development in Nigeria.

His recognition drew a resounding applause from the audience as he stepped forward to receive the award with humility and grace.

Responding, Prof. Onwualu thanked the University of Nigeria Alumni Association for this great honour done to him. He pledged his continued support to the alumni in particular and to the growth of Science and Technology education in the country in general.

Standing beside him was his wife, who shared in the joy of the moment, adding warmth and significance to the occasion.
