- EE 102 (Part 2): October 20–24, 2025
Upon successfully completing both parts and passing the final exam, you’ll be awarded the prestigious Accredited Engineering Economist (AEEcon) certification by the Institute of Appraisers and Cost Engineers.
Course Outline
PART 1 (6th – 10th October 2025)
Day 1: Brief about the Institute; Overview of Engineering Economy; Concept of Engineering Economics; Definition, scope, and management applications; Introduction to project management; Investment decisions with case studies; Time Value of Money; Simple and compound interest with examples; Present and Future Value Equivalence; Spreadsheet and computer applications.
Day 2: Cost Analysis including Estimation and Control; Future Value of Money; Project Financing.
Day 3: Present Value of Money — Future value of single and series of cash flows (equal, unequal, annuities, perpetuities); Present value of single and multiple cash flows; Spreadsheet and computer applications.
Day 4: Depreciation and Taxes; Risk Analysis; Equivalence Calculations involving a Single Factor.
Day 5: Examination.
PART 2 (20th – 24th October 2025)
Day 1: Concept and Procedure for Decision Making; COREN Regulation on Engineering Economy; Corporate decision-making strategies including strategic vs routine, programmed vs unprogrammed, certainty vs uncertainty; Problem identification, data gathering, evaluating alternatives, selection, implementation, monitoring, and feedback.
Day 2: Corporate Investment Decision-Making Techniques — Determinants, risks, expected values, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, Payback Period, Accounting Rate of Return, Net Present Value; Spreadsheet applications; Replacement Analysis and Economic Life of an Asset; Introduction to Linear Programming.
Day 3: Contract Administration; Risk Analysis; Break-Even Analysis.
Day 4: Benefit/Cost Analysis; Optimization; Leadership and Managing People in Projects; Sensitivity Analysis.
Day 5: Wrap-Up and Examination.
