Prof Onwualu Bags Chieftaincy Title

The President of the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, Engr. Prof. Azikiwe Peter Onwualu, FAS, has been installed as Ichie Ugoeze III of Oba Kingdom in Anambra State.

The investiture ceremony, which took place on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, was conducted by His Royal Majesty, Igwe Engr. Augustine Emelobe, KSC, GON, Ezeokpoko II of Oba Kingdom, at his Palace in Oba.

Engr. Prof. Onwualu, who was accompanied by his wife, Lolo Blessing Nwamaka Onwualu (Dibeze) of Okpuno Umuogali, Oba, was honoured in recognition of his outstanding contributions to education, engineering, leadership, and community development at both national and international levels.

The event attracted family members, close friends, and well-wishers, who gathered to witness the conferment of the revered traditional title, celebrating the distinguished academic and administrator’s commitment to service and cultural heritage.

A reception in honour of the newly installed Ichie followed later the same day at his residence in Okpuno Umuogali, Oba, providing an opportunity for guests to felicitate with him and his family.

The installation marks another significant milestone in the life and career of Engr. Prof. Onwualu, further strengthening the bond between modern leadership and traditional institutions in Anambra State.
