Call for Applications: 2026 Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (MARIHE) Opens — AUST Encourages Eligible Students to Apply
The African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, is pleased to inform its students, alumni, and academic community of the call for applications for the 2026 intake of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Research and Innovation in Higher Education (MARIHE).
The MARIHE programme, funded by the European Union under the Erasmus Mundus initiative, offers an exceptional opportunity for graduates passionate about higher education systems, research and innovation management, and educational policy. The programme equips students with the knowledge, skills, and global exposure required to analyze, manage, and shape the future of higher education and research institutions around the world.
MARIHE is a two-year joint master’s programme delivered by a consortium of top-ranked universities across Europe and Asia. Students undertake their studies in at least three different countries, gaining firsthand experience of diverse higher education environments and policy frameworks. The curriculum integrates perspectives from education, economics, management, and social sciences, preparing graduates for leadership roles in universities, government agencies, research organizations, and international development institutions.
A limited number of highly competitive Erasmus Mundus scholarships are available for outstanding applicants from all over the world. These scholarships cover full tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, travel and installation costs, and health insurance for the duration of the study period.
Applicants must hold at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent and demonstrate strong academic performance, proficiency in English, and interest in higher education, policy, or innovation. While candidates from all academic backgrounds are welcome, preference may be given to those with degrees in social sciences, education, economics, or public policy.
The deadline for applications is 23 November 2025. Required documents include a motivation letter, curriculum vitae, academic transcripts and degree certificates, proof of English proficiency, and two letters of recommendation. Only complete applications submitted by the deadline will be considered for admission and scholarships.
AUST encourages qualified students and alumni to apply for this prestigious programme. Participating in MARIHE offers an opportunity to gain world-class education, international exposure, and professional experience that can significantly enhance one’s capacity to contribute to the transformation of Africa’s higher education and research landscape.
