AUST Staff, Chidiebere Uchendu Presents Book At  A Colorful Event

Abuja, Nigeria – May 31, 2025 – The Methodist Cathedral of Unity, Wuse Zone 3, Abuja, came alive on Saturday as guests gathered for the official launch of Crying Clouds, a novel by rising author Uchendu Emmanuel Chidiebere.

The book presentation which was christened  “Novel to Screen Adaptation,”  attracted notable figures from both the creative and academic communities, making it a memorable occasion for the young author.

Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Mr. Solomon Akiyesi, delivered a keynote speech highlighting the importance of literature as a foundational pillar in filmmaking.

He encouraged young writers to consider film adaptations as powerful tools for storytelling and cultural documentation.

The father of the day and President of the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, Professor  Azikiwe Peter Onwualu, FAS, gave praised Mr. Uchendu’s creativity, work ethics, and his journey as a corp member to his  employment as a media personnel at AUST’s Media Department.

According to him  “The author's work speaks for itself” emphasizing the importance of nurturing young talents within institutions.

The event featured captivating performances including poetry and a symbolic presentation of the book, Crying Clouds.

The event which has Sir Victor Ogbonna of the Central Bank of Nigeria as Chairman attracted other dignitaries from all works of life.

Joining the President at the event we're the university's Bursar and Director of Finance, Mr. Ben Obi Okonkwo; the Head, Library Services, Mrs Buchi Ekpolomo; the Head, Human Resources& Logistics, Mrs Bolade Igbagbo; the Students Affairs Coordinator, Mrs Nsima Joseph; the Head of Department, General Studies, Dr. Bosco Obi Okolo: the Head, Media Services/ PRin Prince Obioha Atulomah ,Head of Media Services and PR and some administrative staff.

The event gave the attendees the ample opportunity to network.

The success of the launch marks a significant milestone in Uchendu Chidebere’s literary journey and signals the promising future of his work in the realms of literature.
