Three AUST Researchers Selected for 2025 Heidelberg Laureate Forum

Three outstanding female researchers from the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, Mrs Abiodun Funmi Oladipo, Mrs Halima Yusuf and Dr. Aisha Aminu have earned global recognition as they are among the 200 young researchers selected worldwide to participate in the 12th Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF), taking place this September in Heidelberg, Germany.

The Heidelberg Laureate Forum is a prestigious annual event that brings together some of the most brilliant minds in mathematics and computer science, including laureates of the Abel Prize, Fields Medal, IMU Abacus Medal, and the ACM A.M. Turing Award.

Their selection serves as a unique platform to engage young researchers in high-level dialogue and collaboration with world-renowned scientists.

This year, AUST proudly celebrates the selection of three of its scholars — a testament to the university’s growing influence on the global research stage and its unwavering commitment to excellence, particularly in supporting women in STEM.

Mrs. Abiodun Funmi Oladipo, a master’s student in Computer Science at AUST, Mrs. Oladipo is conducting research on predicting health care expenditure for senior citizens in Nigeria, aiming to improve data-driven healthcare planning in the country.

Mrs. Halima Yusuf , a doctoral fellow at the Charles Chidume Mathematics Institute, AUST, Mrs. Yusuf’s research focuses on applying the Variational Inclusion approach to adaptive radiation treatment planning, contributing to advances in personalized cancer therapy.

Dr. Aisha Aminu, a resident faculty member in the Department of Mathematics at AUST, Dr. Aminu specializes in Nonlinear Operator Theory and its applications, a field with broad implications in scientific computing and mathematical modeling.

Their selection is not only a significant personal achievement but also highlights AUST’s role in nurturing high-impact research and promoting gender inclusivity in science and technology.

As they prepare to represent AUST and Africa at this global forum, these researchers embody the spirit of innovation, excellence, and leadership that defines the next generation of scientific pioneers.
