SFRS-AUST Welcomes 2025/26 JUPEB Students

The School of Foundation and Remedial Studies of the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, held it's orientation program for the  Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) students for the year 2025/26 academic session.

The event which took place the Chike Obi hall, Maths Institute, AUST was really educating as the new students were given  the necessary information that would help them in the course of their training.

In his welcome address, the President of AUST, Prof. Axikiwe Peter Onwualu, FAS , ably represented by the Director of Academic Planning (DAP), Dr. Abdulhakeem Bello, welcomed the students and encouraged them to embrace the university’s culture of academic excellence.

He noted that AUST is committed to nurturing students to reach their full potential through quality teaching and mentorship.

“Here in AUST, we push you to be the best. Our lecturers are well qualified and passionate about your growth. So, when we seem strict, remember—it’s because we want the best for you and from you,” Dr. Bello said.

He also recognized two outstanding JUPEB students, Agunbiade Mwezeel and Swithin Emeka Egwuchim, who emerged as the best-performing students in their cohort. Both were awarded AUST scholarships covering their studies from 200 to 400 level in Computer Science.

In his goodwill message, the Director of the JUPEB program in AUST and Dean, School of Sciences and Head of Mathematics, Dr. Abdulmalik Usman Bello, congratulated the students on their admission and urged them to take the program seriously, noting that JUPEB serves as a strong foundation for their academic journey at AUST.

Mr. Adewale Festus provided an overview of the JUPEB grading system, highlighting the importance of consistent attendance and commitment to coursework

The highlight of the program was the motivational session where the two scholarship recipients, Agunbiade and Egwuchim, shared their success stories, inspiring the new students to remain focused and disciplined throughout their academic journey.

The orientation concluded with an interactive session, marking the beginning of an exciting academic year for the JUPEB students at AUST.
