AUST TRADE FAIR 2.0 BRINGS COLOUR, COMMERCE, AND COMMUNITY TO AUST CAMPUS
The African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, once again opened its gates to creativity, commerce, and community spirit during its lively Trade Fair held on campus from the 13th to the 14th of October, 2025.
Organized by the Student Affairs division as part of the week-long orientation program for the incoming students, the two day event drew a substantive number of people across all walks of life ranging from food to fashion, beauty products to books, the trade fair featured a colorful range of goods.
The campus was transformed into a bustling hub where student entrepreneurs proudly showcased their brands and products. The fair not only allowed students to explore their entrepreneurial sides but also offered them a unique opportunity to connect with the larger AUST community in a practical, engaging setting.
The atmosphere was lively throughout, with music, movement, and meaningful interactions. Attendees included fellow students, faculty members, visitors, and vendors, all contributing to the fair’s warm and inclusive tone. It was an event that reflected the diversity and innovative spirit that defines AUST.
Among the notable participants was Dr. Ojewumi Joshua Afolabi, a medical doctor who shared insights into his journey during a brief interview. “Cooking is a passion I’ve held since school,” he said. “It’s a form of therapy for me, especially after a demanding day as a full-time doctor. And yes, it’s profitable too.” His food stand quickly became a favorite at the fair, drawing a crowd with both aroma and authenticity. Dr. Ojewumi, who is also the husband of AUST’s HR, represented the perfect blend of professionalism and passion.
Students themselves were not left out of the spotlight. Many took the opportunity to showcase student-owned brands, from handmade crafts to digital services. It was a clear statement of the talent and entrepreneurial drive within the AUST community.
The trade fair at AUST served not just as a marketplace, but as a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and student-led innovation. It continues to be a platform that empowers young minds while bringing together diverse expressions of culture, enterprise, and connection on campus.
