AUST Hosts 1st National Conference on Science, Technology, and Innovation Communication
Abuja, Nigeria – May 26, 2025 – The African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, is set to host the 1st National Conference on Science, Technology, and Innovation Communication (STICOMMS 2025) from October 21st to 23rd, 2025.
Themed “Communicating Science, Technology, and Innovation for National Development,” the conference aims to bridge the communication gap between research outputs and key stakeholders in Nigeria’s development landscape.
Recognizing the pivotal role that Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) play in economic growth, societal advancement, and policy formulation, STICOMMS 2025 seeks to address the under-communication of vital research findings and innovations. By fostering better communication strategies.
The event hopes to empower industries, guide policymakers, and engage the public in adopting science-driven solutions.
Sub-themes of the conference include:
• Agriculture and Food Security
• Health and Medicine
• Energy, Environment, and Climate Change
• Engineering, Technology, and Artificial Intelligence
• Social Sciences and Humanities
• Education and Capacity Building
• Policy, Governance, and Advocacy
• Media, Innovations, and Public Engagement
The three-day hybrid event will be held both onsite at AUST, Galadimawa, Abuja, and online via Zoom. Day 1 will feature arrival, registration, and the opening ceremony; Day 2 will include both onsite and virtual paper presentations; and Day 3 will offer an expert-led training workshop.
Interested participants are invited to submit abstracts of no more than 250 words to sticonf@aust.edu.ng on or before August 31, 2025. The registration fee is ₦100,000 for online attendance and ₦150,000 for physical attendance. Financial support is available for a limited number of participants upon request by September 30, 2025.
