AUST STUDENT WINS 2025 S.P.E. AWARD

Miss Adabeke Finefuture Ihekoronye, a 300-level student of the Petroleum and Energy Resources Engineering Department, of the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, has achieved remarkable success by emerging as the best student in the Abuja chapter and the third-best nationally in the Society of Petroleum Engineers (S.P.E.) competition for 2025.
Miss Ihekoronye, represented the S.P.E. AUST chapter in a highly contested competition , securing the top position in Abuja and outperforming students from Base University (2nd place), Nile University (3rd place), Bayero University Kano (4th place), and the Federal University of Technology Minna (5th place).
At the national level, she clinched the third position, trailing behind candidates from the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) and the University of Lagos (UNILAG) who came first andvsecond respectively In recognition of her exceptional achievement, the Abuja section of S.P.E. will sponsor Adabeke lhekoronye's trip to the Nigerian Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAICE) in Lagos, scheduled to hold from the 4th–6th August, 2025.
During the conference, she will be presented with the prestigious Dr. Olumide Philps (DROPS) Award, along with a cash prize of two hundred thousand Naira (₦200,000).
The awardee's accomplishment highlights her dedication and academic prowess, bringing pride to AUST and the S.P.E. community. Her success serves as an inspiration to other AUST students and students across Nigeria.
