AUST Signs Partnership Agreements with ELEOS, 3TMEPS, and SPACE
The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Unit of the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, has signed partnership agreements with three partnering organizations—ELEOS Women and Youth Empowerment Initiative, 3TMEPS Engineering and Technical Service Limited (MEPs Solution), and the Sustainable Partnerships and Approach for Civil Engagement Initiative (SPACE).
The agreements were signed to strengthen skills development, professional training, and community-focused capacity building.
The collaboration, facilitated under the Center for Pan-African and Peace Studies (CSPPS), is aimed at expanding access to practical, industry-relevant training while promoting inclusive development, technical excellence, and civic engagement.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, the President of the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Prof. Azikiwe Peter Onwualu, FAS, stated that the MoUs aligns with the objectives of the CPD 2026 Programme.
He emphasized that the collaboration reflects the university’s commitment to translating knowledge into impact by combining academic expertise with field-based professional experience to deliver practical, industry-relevant training.
ELEOS Women and Youth Empowerment Initiative will collaborate with AUST CPD on programs focused on women and youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and vocational skills development. The partnership will support training in areas such as textiles, baking, bead making, household product production, makeup artistry, digital literacy, and small business development, with the goal of improving employability and economic independence.
Through the MoU with 3TMEPS Engineering and Technical Service Limited (MEPs Solution), AUST CPD will strengthen technical and engineering-focused professional training. The collaboration will support capacity building in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, engineering consultancy, infrastructure development, and technical project management, targeting professionals, technicians, and early-career engineers seeking practical industry exposure.
The partnership with the Sustainable Partnerships and Approach for Civil Engagement Initiative (SPACE), operating under CSPPS, will advance training and research in civic engagement, peace building, governance, and sustainable development. Joint activities will include advocacy-focused training, partnership and network development, and capacity-building interventions designed to promote social cohesion and participatory governance.
Under the terms of the MoU, the partners will jointly design and deliver CPD programs, short courses, workshops, and community-based interventions that leverage AUST’s academic strengths and the partners’ field experience. The collaboration also creates opportunities for research, policy engagement, and cross-sector knowledge exchange.
The signing of the MoU marks another step in AUST’s strategy to deepen partnerships with civil society, industry, and development-focused organizations, ensuring that its CPD offerings remain practical, inclusive, and responsive to national and continental development priorities.
