AUST Felicitates With The WTO DG @ 70

The African University of Science and Technology ( AUST), Abuja has extended its warm congratulations to the Director General of the World Trade Organization ( WTO) and former Board Chair of the Nelson Mandela Institutes( NMI), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-lweala, GCON, who turned 70 on Thursday, June 13, 2024.

In a congratulatory message sent to her, the President of African University of Science and Technology, Abuja, Professor Azikiwe Peter Onwualu, FAS on behalf of the AUST community felicitates with the WTO DG on her new age.

Professor Onwualu, described Dr. Iweala as a remarkable world-class economist, astute administrator and visionary leader whose contributions in Nigeria in particular and the world at large has impacted many positively.

In his words: The DG WTO is a rare gem, a special gift and blessing to mankind. He wished her many more years  in good health as she continues to render selfless services to mankind.

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-lweala, was once the Board Chair, Nelson Mandela Institutes( NMI), Abuja, two times Minister of finance during Presidents Obasanjo and Jonathan's administration and is presently, the first woman Director General, World Trade Organization.

She was born on June 13, 1954 in Ogwashiukwu, Delta State of Nigeria, married to Ikemba Iweala, a neurosurgeon from Umuada Isingwu in Umuahia, Abia State and her marriage is blessed with four children.
