AUST Conduct's Another SIWES Defence for Undergraduate Students

The African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, recently conducted another Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) defence for its undergraduate students.

The session, which took place at the AUST Inspire Centre, brought together students, faculty members, and evaluators to assess the practical industry exposure gained during the SIWES programme.

The SIWES defence provided the students with the opportunity to present their field experiences, demonstrate their acquired skills, and reflect on the real-world applications of their classroom knowledge.

The assessment panel for this year’s defence comprised Of Dr. Dickson Udebhul, Dr. Leo Morgan, Dr. Mike Amonye and Engr. Kizito Nwachukwu.

The session was coordinated by Engr. Kizito Nwachukwu, the Departmental SIWES Coordinator for the Petroleum and Energy Resources Engineering Department at AUST.Two students from the department successfully defended their SIWES reports:

  • Royal Chimbuonyeoma Ugorji :who completed his industrial training at Femade Energy Limited, presented a comprehensive report on his hands-on experience in petroleum operations, field procedures, and professional development.
  • Jane Amanze, who undertook her SIWES training at the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), gave an insightful presentation highlighting her exposure to regulatory frameworks, compliance processes, and upstream sector operations.

The panel commended both students for the quality of their presentations, clarity of analysis, and the depth of knowledge demonstrated during their training.

AUST continues to emphasize the importance of industry-driven learning, ensuring that students are equipped with relevant skills and practical competencies as they progress in their academic journey and future careers.
