AUST Commences Maiden SWEP Program For Its Engineering Students Across section of the Faculty and Students of the School of Engineering

The African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja recorded a significant milestone with the unveiling of the maiden Student Work Experience Program (SWEP).

In his welcome address, the Acting Dean, School of Engineering and Head of Department, Materials Science Engineering, Dr. Vitalis Anye outlined the importance of the training.

According to him” We decided to organize this program in order to expose our engineering students on  practical designs, application of new methods in engineering mentoring and safety during engineering works.

Dr. Anye expressed his  gratitude to the engineering faculty for their commitment and support and urged the students to take the program seriously as what they will be thought has a way of affecting their course of study positively.

Prof.Sunday O. Nwaubani, Head of Department,Civil Engineering, provided a comprehensive overview of the SWEP activities, focusing on safety and the importance of laboratory familiarities. He also shared the provisional timetable for the program.

Mr. Solomon Onalo from the Operations Unit, AUST delivered an insightful lecture on engineering safety,  emergency exits, hazard management and the use of safety products alongside the crucial role effective communication plays in engineering.

The event which commenced today will run till Friday, August 16, 2024.
