AUST Becomes Official Cisco Academy Center

Abuja, Nigeria – July 5, 2025 ,The African University of Science and Technology (AUST) has been accredited as a  Cisco Academy Center, a significant achievement marked by the launch of its Cisco Certification Program on Saturday, July 5.

The event, hosted at the university’s Inspire Innovation Conference Room, signals a major step forward in AUST’s mission to provide industry-relevant digital skills and empower Africa’s tech-driven future.

Organized by AUST’s Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Center,the launch drew key academic leaders, facilitators, and aspiring tech professionals.

Speaking at the event, AUST President, Professor Peter Azikiwe Onwualu, FAS, reiterated the urgency of equipping young Africans with digital skills and fostering self-reliance in a competitive global economy.

According to him “This is more than a training program,” he said. “It’s a launchpad for innovation, employability, and continental development.”

Dr. Prisca Nneka Onuoha, the AUST CPD Coordinator, welcomed attendees and encouraged them to seize the opportunities offered through the program.

She noted that the CPD's  commitment to aligning education with current industry demands, especially in the tech space.

Participants engaged in an interactive hands-on training through laboratory setup and essential tools for Cisco-based learning.

The program provides dual certification from both Cisco and AUST and offers practical exposure through guided lab sessions.

The Cisco Academy at AUST offers a robust lineup of courses, including, Cyber Security,Ethical Hacking,Data Analytics,IT Essentials,Cyber Ops, Associate IoTs, Digital Transformation  and Network Technology.

With its official status as a Cisco Academy, AUST is poised to become a key training hub for digital transformation in Africa, providing students and professionals with the tools to thrive in the digital economy.

The event  renewed sense of purpose and excitement among participants, many of whom expressed eagerness to begin their certification journeys.
