AUST Announces Postponement of 1st National Conference on Science, Technology, and Innovation Communication (STICOMMS 2026)
Abuja, Nigeria – The Local Organizing Committee of the Science, Technology and Innovation Communication Conference (STICOMMS) has announced the postponement of the 1st National Conference on Science, Technology, and Innovation Communication (STICOMMS 2026) earlier scheduled to hold from October 21 to 23, 2025.
In a statement released by the Chairman of the local Organizing Committee of the Conference, Dr. Bosco Okolo-Obi, the conference has been fixed to hold from January 20 - 22, 2025 at the host institution, the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja.
The postponement was to give stakeholders the opportunity to participate as well as give the conference the required endorsements, support and collaboration.
The conference which has the theme “Communicating Science, Technology, and Innovation for National Development,” aims to bridge the gap between research and practice by strengthening how scientific and technological outputs are communicated to policymakers, industries, and the general public.
The LOC Chairman encourages interested participants, researchers, and stakeholders to take advantage of the date extension to submit their abstracts and complete their registration formalities to ensure active participation.
According to him, abstracts of not more than 250 words should be submitted to sticonf@aust.edu.ng. The conference will feature expert-led training workshops, paper presentations, and networking opportunities, focusing on sub-themes such as: Agriculture and Food Security, Health and Medicine,Energy, Environment, and Climate Change,Engineering, Technology, and Artificial Intelligence,Social Sciences and Humanities,Education and Capacity Building,Policy, Governance, and Advocacy,Media, Innovations, and Public Engagement.
The conference offers both online and onsite participation options, with fees set at ₦100,000 (online) and ₦150,000 (onsite). Payments can be made to the African University of Science and Technology, Abuja (Guaranty Trust Bank, Account Number: 0210334552).
The conference emphasizes that effective communication of science, technology, and innovation (STI) research outputs is essential for national development and inclusive progress—an issue this conference is designed to address.
